What does RFP mean in construction?

Newish to the construction side and the acronyms are everywhere. People keep saying RFP but I want to be sure I understand what it actually means in a construction context, and how it's different from RFI or RFQ.

In construction, RFP stands for Request for Proposal. It's a document an owner or general contractor issues to invite contractors or vendors to propose how they'd deliver a project, including approach, timeline, team and price, not just a number. It's broader than an RFQ (Request for Quote), which is mostly about price, and different from an RFI (Request for Information), which is used earlier to gather details or clarify scope. The usual order is RFI to learn, RFP to evaluate approach and cost, then award.

ya rfp = request for proposal. its the one where u pitch ur whole approach not just a price. rfq is just price

dont mix it up with rfi, thats when they just want info or clarification early on. rfp is the actual bid
